Nigerian shipowner names ICS board director
The International Chamber of Shipping has appointed the President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Mr Aminu Umar, as the first African member of the ICS board. The Director General of NCS, Mrs Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. According to Chimezie-Azubuike, Umar’s appointment marks a significant milestone for him and Nigeria’s maritime sector on the global stage. She stated that Umar’s appointment underscored Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership within the international maritime community. “With Umar’s experience and strategic vision, he would contribute immensely to the ICS’s mission of promoting and representing the global shipping industry,” Chikezie-Azubuike said.
